As we know well, DJing as part of a duo requires a special connection. Being in the booth, performing in front of a crowd, trying to create a musical flow: To do this effectively, there needs to be a profound understanding and link between the two artists. It’s a connection that can be born from […]

The Chicago pioneer Cajmere talks with Sleepy & Boo as he prepares to rock Sullivan Room on Saturday, October 9th.

It’s hard to imagine that a track as unique and quirky as Cajmere’s “Percolator” has become one of electronic music’s most well-known – and beloved – anthems of all time. But very little about Curtis A Jones’ music and career as an artist, DJ and label boss, has been predictable.
We've been honored to be a part of the first two Electric Zoo Festivals in New York. We spoke with Rhythmism.com about our thoughts on the festival and being a part of New York's music scene.

Anyone who is familiar with dance music in New York City will automatically recognize the names Sleepy & Boo. As the driving force behind Basic NYC (named as New York Magazines “Best Dance Party” in 2009), the duo has been bringing top notch talent to various venues around the city for years now.
Carl Craig was Basic NYC's guest of honor as we celebrated our sixth anniversary in April, 2010.

When it comes to electronic music, there’s almost nothing that Detroit’s Carl Craig doesn’t have his hands in. He’s a true renaissance man, with a vast array of diverse projects and enterprises going on at any given time. Yes, he’s a producer, a remixer, a DJ and a label head. But he’s also a festival director, a live performer, and an avant garde musician. But at the very core of it all, he’s a tireless advocate of his native Detroit, and the homegrown techno music culture that the motor city spawned.

Geddes will be performing at Sullivan Room on Saturday, November 14th, 2009.

In the middle of it all is Geddes, the founder of the party, resident DJ, and overall musical guru.

Few electronic music labels have made more of an impact on the international scene in the last few years than Germany’s esteemed Get Physical. In the last seven years, Get Physical has turned names like M.A.N.D.Y and Booka Shade into international stars, and earned a reputation for finding cutting talent and sounds.
Few DJs bring a vibe to the decks like Tom Middleton, and his October 24th Sullivan Room set was another fantastic night. Download the live set here.

Tom Middleton’s love for music is readily apparent to anyone who has had the chance to hear and see him perform. He simply exudes an infectious enthusiasm for his craft from behind the decks by bringing a healthy supply of positive energy, a warm smile, and impeccable music selection. We've been honored to host the legendary Jeff Mills twice this year to Sullivan Room. His October 17th visit was another mind-melting set of tripped out, custom-made techno. Check out picture gallery from the night - with gallery #1 and gallery #2 on Facebook.

He’s internationally known as one of techno music’s most important pioneers. But if you took a closer look at his myriad projects and achievements, it’s clear that Jeff Mills is much more than just a DJ and music producer. From his avant-garde fashion boutique in Chicago, Gamma Player, to his “Blue Potential” collaboration with the Montpellier Philharmonic Orchestra, to his highly conceptual live events in Japan (including the current “Sleeper Wakes”), Jeff Mills is a provocateur who has challenged the limits and perceptions of electronic music throughout his career.
