Sleepy & Boo play electronic music of all shapes and sizes, rocking rooms big and small across New York City and beyond. They love thick drums, big basslines, hypnotic grooves and tripped-out sci-fi synthesizers, and know how to put it all together. Forget sticking to just one genre — as DJs, they are known for their diversity and their knack for picking tracks from across the musical spectrum. Whether it’s a twisted late night excursion or peak-hour mayhem, Sleepy & Boo never fail to turn a dancefloor inside out.
From their home base in New York, Sleepy & Boo have become preeminent players in the Big Apple’s dynamic underground music scene. For the last six-plus years, they have been the resident DJs and driving force behind Basic NYC, their celebrated Saturday night throwdown at New York’s infamous Sullivan Room nightclub. At the party, Sleepy & Boo have played alongside and hosted the world’s most important DJs, all performing to a packed house of energetic music lovers. It’s an event that’s been recognized for its diversity, with partygoers treated to a huge range of talent and sounds (everyone from Kaskade to Jeff Mills have been guests over the years). Named as New York’s “Best Dance Party 2009” by New York Magazine in April, Basic NYC has become an institution for clubbers eager to catch world-class DJs in an intimate, down-and-dirty space.
Apart from their own events, Sleepy & Boo are consistently DJing at the best and most important parties in New York. They were on the lineup for the inaugural Electric Zoo Festival, where their buzzed-about opening set in the Riverside Arena was one of the event’s many highlights. They recently headlined at one of New York’s top nightclubs, the esteemeed Cielo, where they launched their own “Sleepy & Boo + friends” party to a packed-house of eager clubbers. They play regular sets at notable NYC venues including Santos Party House, Water Taxi Beach, Love and Pacha, where they can typically be heard dropping expert warmup sets for a huge range of the world’s top DJs, expertly priming the dancefloor before the headliners take over. They also take Basic NYC to Miami every year for the Winter Music Conference, where their daytime, outdoor events at the Beach Plaza Hotel have become some of the WMC’s most anticipated annual fiestas.
With their new S&B Sessions Podcast recently launched on iTunes, and plans for a digital music label underway, Sleepy & Boo continue to look for new ways to share their love of cutting edge dance music.
