For WMC, we’ve been working with the good people at the Beach Plaza Hotel for the last several years. If you’re looking for a place to stay during the conference, we definitely recommend the Beach Plaza. Without a doubt, the annual Winter Music Conference is one of our favorite times of the year. For a week in March, the dance music industry – and all those that love it – descend on South Beach and Miami for a marathon blur of parties, music and overall fun in the sun. There’s a little something for everyone there, and we’ve had the privilege of doing our own events for the last six years at a few different venues, most notably the gorgeous gardens of the Beach Plaza Hotel.

For 2010, we’re returning to the Beach Plaza for four daytime showcases, running in conjunction with four events at the Bentley Hotel Rooftop. Once again, we’re teaming up with some of our past WMC collaborators, as well as staging our own Basic NYC showcase on Saturday March 27th at the Beach Plaza.

If you’re still looking for a place to stay, definitely contact Ingrid at the Beach Plaza Hotel – her email is ingrid@beachplazahotel.com – and ask about the Basic NYC package. The hotel is smack dab in the middle of the WMC action, and we’ll have parties running from Wednesday through Saturday. There are all kinds of rooms and the rates are very good in comparison to typical South Beach prices.

After many years of discussion, but little concrete action, we at Basic NYC are proud to announce our brand new website, and we couldn’t be happier with what we’ve got. All the kudos for this project go to our amazing friend Mitch Wells, who is one of the world’s true renaissance men. Go and see for yourself. Mitch is an artist, a designer, a DJ, a producer, a musician, an inventor, a t-shirt maker – just an all-around creative mind who is always willing to lend his services.

In fact, you’ve already seen Mitch’s work before: he designed our Basic logo when we first started throwing our shindigs a few years back. So it’s only natural that he brings our web presence up to par with the rest of the cyber world with this new site.

We love music, we love presenting DJs to you, we love having a good party. And the idea behind the site is tie all of that together. Here you can find out about upcoming parties; you can check out our Q&As, past and present, with the artists we’re bringing to town. You can download mixes from us, and livesets recorded at our parties.  You can let us know how you feel about things by leaving comments of your own. Finally, we’ve got our blog, our own little place to jot down our thoughts on music, on life in New York, restaurants, travel, whatever it is we’re thinking about. And of course, we’re always looking for new friends and collaborators – if you have an idea for us, please drop us a line.
